Independence Day

The Independence Day is an occasion when we all pay our tributes to the revered memory of the freedom fighters, who made it possible for us to breathe in free air. We at Delhi Public School, Ludhiana also celebrated this day with much zeal, vigour, patriotism and enthusiasm. The day began on a pleasant note with the favourable weather and the mild sunshine too adding to the toned and humble ambience. The students exhibited their talent and their passion through various items. This auspicious occasion began with the hosting the National Flag by Principal Mrs. Seema Malik. The very sight of the flag flying high in the cool breeze of the morning, after being unfurled, filled all with a sense of pride or their country. It was followed by a pledge that aimed making all the students responsible towards their duties and also the respect that they are to show towards other. The Principal, Ms. Seema Malik’s speech was indeed a message that inspired us a lot to contribute our bit in making the country proud. She quoted Rabindra Nath Tagore’s dream as described in an extract from Geetanjali, “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.” She also emphasized on the fact that we all must play our roles well so that the consolidated efforts can make their mark in helping the nation reach new horizons of success. The national anthem was sung with full fervour, with heads held high and hearts swelled with pride.
The Skit presented by the students of the Theatre Club was a satire on the present situation of the Indian democracy. The participating students depicted with their beautiful act the pitiable condition of our dear country. The characters experience a change of heart after being shown the mirror to realise their wrong acts and they pledge to save their motherland. The patriotic song presented by the choir of the school enthused their spirits of each and everyone present there with a sense of pride for the nation and a courage to do something for the upliftment of the country.
The speeches given by the two students, Anuradha from the Senior Wing and Harshita from the Junior Wing, were representative of the views held by the young generation. They were all no less expressive in showing a we-feeling and a feeling of brotherhood, accompanied by a sense of sharing and harmony. The Hindi poem entitled, ‘Naveen Kalpana’, recited by Isha, Hanisha and Harshita, gave an inspirational message about patriotism, new imagination and innovative thinking that would contribute a lot in the progress of a country. The support staff and the teachers also presented a song each to enthuse the students.
The small kids from the Junior wing presented a scintillating dance performance. It as a power packed performance that filled one and all with enthusiasm and vigour. The presentation done by the outsource staff was a remarkable one. They all looked so eager to show their zeal to perform well and to convey a message of patriotism and selfless love for their country. Takshila Gaan sung by the teachers was what gave the programme a brilliant finishing touch.
