National Sports Day
Sports teach us that true success lies not merely in winning, but in discipline, teamwork, determination, perseverance and the courage to keep moving forward. With this spirit, National Sports Day was celebrated at Delhi Public School Ludhiana on August 29, 2026, with great enthusiasm to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. The school paid tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary “Wizard of Hockey,” whose remarkable achievements and contribution to Indian hockey continue to inspire generations. As part of the celebrations, National Sports Week was organised from August 25 to 27 for students from Pre-Nursery to Class V, featuring age-appropriate activities such as relays, obstacle races, hoop challenges, tug of war, throwball, Kho Kho, mini hockey and leg cricket.
Teachers and service staff also participated enthusiastically in football, basketball and hockey challenges, along with a friendly football match. The celebrations fostered fitness, coordination, confidence, sportsmanship and teamwork, reinforcing the message that sports build not only a healthy body, but also a focused mind and strong character.
