The Zero Waste Schools Programme Convening, titled Closing the Loop from Audit to Action, was organised by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) in partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana (MCL) on 16 January 2026 at the Park Plaza Hotel, Ludhiana. The event brought together educators, environmental practitioners, and civic stakeholders to deliberate on sustainable waste management practices within school ecosystems. Although our school was not part of Phase I, the convening offered valuable exposure to structured and scalable strategies for reducing waste through informed planning and collaborative action. Mr. Arvind Kumar, Programme Coordinator (Air), shared key findings from comprehensive waste audits and the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) survey conducted across ten participating schools, highlighting behavioural patterns and areas for intervention.

A significant takeaway was the presentation of customised, school-specific action plans rooted in data analysis, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based decision-making. The “Voices of Change” segment, featuring reflections from teachers and students, illustrated how student engagement, institutional commitment, and civic partnerships can collectively foster a culture of environmental responsibility. Discussions on the way forward underscored the need for continued collaboration between educational institutions and municipal bodies to sustain impact. In light of these insights, our school looks forward to participating in Phase II of the programme and engaging meaningfully with the shared data and findings to contextualise strategies, provide constructive feedback, and initiate informed, action-oriented waste management practices on campus.
