The Science seminar on Quantum Mechanics, for classes IX to XII, conducted by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, retired from Government College, Sunam, was held on November 26, 2025, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the Multipurpose Hall. The session began with a warm welcome address by Harshita Jain of Class X A, after which Dr. Singh—an accomplished academician who topped his B.Sc. (non-medical), earned a Gold Medal in M.Sc. (Physics), completed his M.Sc. and M.Phil from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and received his Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh—introduced students to the intriguing world of quantum mechanics. Having served in prestigious institutions since 1994, rising to Professor of Physics, authoring 55 research papers, and later serving as Principal at multiple government colleges, Dr. Singh brought immense experience, clarity, and passion to the seminar.

He explained foundational concepts such as wave–particle duality, Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, superposition, and quantum entanglement through relatable examples and analogies that made complex theories accessible to young learners. To deepen engagement, he also connected quantum ideas to popular culture, referencing Avengers: Endgame and discussing its depiction of the quantum realm, time travel, and alternate timelines, which captivated the audience and made the session more enjoyable. Dr. Singh further highlighted practical applications of quantum mechanics in fields like quantum computing, lasers, semiconductors, and medical imaging, illustrating their relevance in modern technology. The seminar concluded with an interactive question–answer session in which students clarified doubts on both scientific concepts and their cinematic representations, and Dr. Singh responded with enthusiasm and insight. The Principal, Mr. Jaya Prakash, expressed gratitude by presenting him with a gift hamper. Overall, the seminar proved informative, inspiring, and intellectually stimulating, sparking curiosity and broadening students’ understanding of the quantum world.
